Maurice A. Kyllo

September 8, 1934 — April 13, 2017

Maurice A. Kyllo age 82 of Rochester, formerly of Zumbrota died on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Rochester Rehabilitation and Living Center in Rochester. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Minneola Lutheran Church in rural Zumbrota with Pastor Hannah Bergstrom de Leon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Maurice Allan Kyllo was born on September 8, 1934 in Minneola Township, Goodhue County, MN to Selmer and Hazel (nee Anderson) Kyllo. Maurice grew up in rural Wanamingo, attended country school and graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1953. On April 4, 1953 he married Doris V. Vangsness at Minneola Lutheran Church. They made their home in Minneapolis for four years while Maurice worked at the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in St. Paul. In 1957 they moved to Hader and later to Zumbrota. In 1957 Maurice started working at IBM Corp in Rochester and worked there until retiring on April 1, 1990. Maurice enjoyed fishing, being at the cabin, golfing and watching football on TV. Maurice was a member of Minneola Lutheran Church and a past member of the Sons of Norway.
Maurice is survived by his children, Suzette (Steve) Hinrichs of Zumbrota, Vonnie Torkelson of Lakeville, Dean Kyllo of Lake City, Shelley (Robert) Downer of Rochester and Sheri Kyllo of St. Louis Park; grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Berg, Tiffany (Brian) Betcher, Titus (Molly) Torkelson, Beth (Will) Erickson, Rachel (Kevin) Strain, Samantha (Keith) Enstad, Danielle Kyllo and Aviana Torkelson; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Addison and Emma Berg, Lucas and Lauren Erickson, Milo and Vivian Strain; brother, Jerome (Valerie) Kyllo and sister, Judy Blakston.
Maurice was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; great-granddaughter, Kylie Erickson; and brother, Donald Kyllo.
Memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice or Minneola Lutheran Church.
