Maxine Marion Kuhl

Maxine Marion Kuhl, 96, of Red Wing, died Thursday, February 22, 2018, at St. Crispin Living Community, Seminary Home. She was born on November 28, 1921 in Reinbeck, Iowa to Harry and Viola (Sonkens) Ohrt. She graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1938. On September 5, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harold Kuhl in Marshalltown, Iowa. For 20 years they farmed in the Gladbrook area before moving to Red Wing in 1960. For the next 10 years she worked at Red Wing Industries, Midwest Marine and Riviera Kitchens until moving to Winona in 1969. There she worked at Peerless Chain. Following Harold's death in 1978, she moved back to Red Wing in 1980, where she worked for Riedell Shoes prior to her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and past member of the Northstar Homemaker Extension Club and The Hill Birthday Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and watching the Minnesota Twins.
She is survived by three children, Stanley (Diane) Kuhl of Cumberland, Wisconsin, Daryl (Kathleen) Kuhl of Red Wing and Janell (John) McNeill of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Shouse of Gladbrook, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Curtis Ohrt and one sister, Gladys Walker.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Clay Oglesbee officiating. Burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the American Red Cross of which Maxine was a volunteer.
