Morris Heitman, 81, of Lake City passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Wabasha. He was born on January 21, 1937 to Emil and Marcella (Fick) Heitman in Lake City, Minnesota. He attended country school in Mount Pleasant Township and then attended St. John's Parochial school. He graduated from Lincoln High School.
Morris married Marlis (Klindworth) on November 30, 1956 at St. John's Lutheran in Bear Valley. Together they farmed in the Oak Center area. They were blessed with three children. Morris was a dairy farmer for over thirty years. He then went to work as an insurance agent for Gillford Mutual for 32 years. He was also a crop insurance agent and adjuster for American Ag. And for 20 years he also farmed with Balow Farms. He did these things until his retirement. His love for farming never ended.
Morris is survived by his wife, Marlis of 61 years; children, Steve (Dawn) Heitman, Pam (Jeff) Siegenthaler, and Lisa Meyer; 12 grandchildren, Matt (Katie), Mike (Vicky), Travis (Madie), Tony (Cassie) Ashley, Brittany, Miranda (Justin), Hannah (Jesse), Andrew, Emily (Ryan), Joe, Carly; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Heitman and Ardis Kohlmeyer, brother-in-law, Ronald Klindworth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, infant Donald, Cedric, and Larry Heitman, and sister-in-law, Beverley.
Funeral service will be Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran in Lake City with Reverend Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church.
