Muriel Dodge

August 23, 1931 — March 13, 2017

Charlotte Muriel Dodge, 85, of Red Wing, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at her home at Deer Crest. Muriel is happy to have finally been reunited with her husband of 64 years, Dick. She was born August 23, 1931 to Leonard and Eleanor (Glaus) Miller in Ellsworth, Wis. She attended Maiden Rock High School. She met her husband while he was working as a mechanic at Nash Garage.
On April 25, 1950, she married Richard "Dick" Dodge at Clayfield Catholic Church and the couple made their home in Red Wing. Together they raised four children. Muriel was active in the community and held many jobs through her life, including working at the St. James, Nybo's Café, Bev's and the Red Men. She retired from the Goodhue County Department of Motor Vehicles after more than 13 years. Together she and Dick enjoyed traveling with the U.S.S. Columbia WWII reunion group and they wintered in Texas for more 25 years. She was also a member of the Church of St. Joseph where she participated in many church related activities. She was a member of the PTA and the treasurer for the Booster Club. She and Dick were big Winger fans and continued to support high school sports even after their children had graduated. Muriel loved to play euchre and to dance with Dick. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Margo (Chris) Torgerson of Huntsville, Ala., Paula (Kim Renolds) Dodge of McAllen, Texas and Anita (John) Frawley of Welch; daughter-in-law, Nancy Dodge of Red Wing; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother L. Ried Miller.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard; her son, Kevin Dodge; and her parents.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Robert Meyer presiding. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, March 17 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
