Orrie Elden Crom

Orrie E. Crom, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Pine Island Methodist Church with Pastor Carolyn Westlake officiating. The visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine, MN.
Orrie Elden Crom Jr. was born in Olmsted County on March 12, 1944 to Orrie and Alice (Simpson) Crom. He lived in the Rock Dell area and moved with his family to Pine Island at 9 years of age. He attended District 80 Country School and later Pine Island School. As a young man Orrie worked on local farms helping with haying and different jobs. Orrie worked at Demuth Steel in Zumbrota for 17 years and then Rochester Silo until his retirement at age 62.
Orrie enjoyed helping people; he visited Pine Haven a lot and enjoyed talking with the residents and doing puzzles with them. He loved to visit with anyone around town, enjoyed parades, county fairs, and walking.
Orrie is survived by his sister, Della (John) Newell; nieces, Malissa (Troy) Lindner of Portland, OR. and Michelle Newell Pemberton of Phoenix, AZ.; one special great niece, Sabina Lindner of Portland OR.; and a nephew, Jerry White of Lakeland, FL.
Orrie was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jessie White; and brother-in-law, Courtney White.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - 200 12th Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55415.
