Richard W. Barnsdorf

Richard Wayne Barnsdorf, 89, of Red Wing, died Friday, August 8, 2014, at the Seminary Home. He was born August 5, 1925, in Maiden Rock, Wisconsin, to George and Doris (Herald) Barnsdorf. In 1943 he graduated from Plum City High School and in November, enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a Sonarman during WW II. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he attended vocational school in Appleton, Wisconsin, taking a 2 year course for Auto Body Repair. He was united in marriage to Dolores Jewell on July 16, 1949, and they lived in Red Wing. He worked as a machinist for Gould in Lake City for over 30 years, until his retirement. Richard enjoyed spending time at the cabin near Hayward, fishing and just being "up north". He also was interested in politics and he enjoyed watching football games and constructing remote control airplanes.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores; 3 daughters, Sue (Tom) Robinson, Pat Donaldson and Chris (Terry) Peterson all of Red Wing; 6 grandchildren, Tricia Robinson, Angie LaManna, Mandy Kahl, Jesse Donaldson, Rick Kahl and Terry Peterson, Jr.; 9 great-grandchildren, Grace, Sullivan, Ryver, Izzak, Samantha, Taylor, Porter, Zachary and Kaylie; a sister, Pat (Lloyd) Rahrmann of Pepin, Wis and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Montgomery Rahrmann.

A private family service will be held and burial at Maiden Rock Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
