Richard "Knobby" Allyn Lundquist, 64, of Maiden Rock, WI died Sunday, January, 25, 2015 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. He was born June 17, 1950 in Red Wing to Victor and Esther (Pagelkopf) Lundquist. He grew up and attended high school in Ellsworth. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge in 1969, he went to work as a welder and pipefitter, helping to build the Prairie Island Nuclear Plant. He went to work as a Welder Specialist for 35 years. In 1972, he married Beverly Marie Galchutt and the couple had three sons. They later divorced but remained close friends until the time of his passing. He was also a foster parent to many children over the years. Knobby was very involved with the Wildlife League and was a member of the American Legion, Post #158 in Maiden Rock. Knobby was an avid sportsman, hunter, fisherman, enjoyed fixing things, and was ready and willing to help anyone in need. He was a fan of blues music and enjoyed riding his Harley. Most of all, Knobby loved his family and went out of his way to spend time with his friends.
He is survived by his sons: Mike Swanson, Jason (Ann) of Red Wing, Brandon (Kari) of Maplewood, and Nick (Amy) of Denver, Colorado; 9 grandchildren: Missy, Scott, Cody, Hayden, Alex, Emily, Alyxis, Caitlyn, and Tristan; great grandchildren; four siblings: Ken Zimmerman, Judy Johnson, Carol Peach, and Mary Olsen; his much loved dog Lucy; as well as nieces, nephews, and other family and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Esther; and his stepfather, Dennis Moldenhauer.
Memorial Service will be 12 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2015 at Mahn Family Funeral Home with Rev. Barbara von Haaren officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
