Robert Gerald Eddinsaas

Robert G. Eddingsaas, age 78, of Rochester, died at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long journey with heart disease on Thursday, July 24, 2014. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Sunday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Olive Lutheran Church (2830 18th Avenue NW), Rochester with Pastor Susan Li officiating. Full military rites will be performed at the church by members of the American Legion William T. McCoy Post #92 of Rochester. Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Columbarium at a later date. Pallbearers will be Mark Vahlsing, Brian Zimmer, Michael Smith, Ryan Smith, Justin Vahlsing, Bergen Zimmer, Dane Zimmer, & Brock Zimmer. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Rochester Chapel and again at the church on Sunday from 1-2 p.m.
Robert G. Eddingsaas was born on February 23, 1936 the son of Norman K. and Hilda C. Myhre in Stoughton, Wisconsin. He attended school in Stoughton, graduating in 1954. He furthered his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Electrical Engineering and then received his Electronic Associates Degree from Dunwoody in Minneapolis. Robert served his country in the Air National Guard and the United States Air Force from December 1954 until October 1958. Following his honorable discharge, Robert and Darlene Jacobson were united in marriage on October 24, 1959 in Stoughton, Wisconsin. The couple resided in Rochester for over 40 years, as Robert worked in medical sales at Scientific Products, Hawkeye Medical, and CF Anderson. He retired in 1999. Robert enjoyed golfing, building dollhouses for his daughters, and building model cars & boats for his grandsons. He also enjoyed bonfires, watching the weather, watching fireworks and spending time with his family. Robert and his wife Darlene enjoyed dancing together throughout the years. He was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Rochester, Rochester Exchange Club, Elks Club and the American Legion. Robert and Darlene spent time in Sun City, AZ where he was a member of the Sun City Elks Club as well as the American Lutheran Church of Sun City. Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years: Darlene of Rochester, daughters: Julie Vahlsing (Mark) of Pine Island, Jill Zimmer (Brian) of Minnetonka, MN, Janelle Smith (Michael) of Rochester, grandchildren: Amanda and Justin Vahlsing, Bergen, Dane and Brock Zimmer, Ryan and Allison Smith, and sister Lois Chappell. Robert was preceded in death by his parents. We will continue the Celebration of Robert's life with a luncheon at the DoubleTree Hotel located at 150 South Broadway following the church service. Memorials in Robert's name to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church are greatly appreciated.
