Robert John Lundberg, 83, of Red Wing, died Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Crispin Living Community - Seminary Home. He was born on October 25, 1932 in Red Wing to Arvid and Anna (Huppert) Lundberg. He graduated in 1950 from Red Wing Central High School and then served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955. Following his discharge he returned to Red Wing. On May 4, 1957 he married Alta Carlson. They lived in Red Wing where he worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company for 44 years. Alta died on April 26, 1996. Following his retirement he worked as a custodian for the Church of St. Joseph. He was a member of the Church of St. Joseph, Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54, Ducks Unlimited and the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid Vikings and Twins fan and most of all enjoyed being with his family.
Survivors include three children, Mark Lundberg of Rochester, Cheryl (Dave) Matz of Red Wing and Linda (Tom) Sell of Eau Claire, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Laura, Sarah (Ross), Nichole, Christian, Anna, Katie, Kimberly and Bryan; one great grandson, Braxton; one sister, Jeanette LaMere of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; four nieces and nephews and his best friend of 19 years, Linda Truttman of Red Wing. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Alta.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Tom Walker presiding. Burial with full military honors will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. Memorials are preferred to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
