Rodney A. Hauschildt

Rodney Allen Hauschildt, 73, of Red Wing died on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Red Wing. Rod was born on October 13, 1943, in Red Wing, to Raymond and Dorothie (Fellman) Hauschildt and graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1961. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served until he was honorably discharged. After serving in the military, he went to work at the Red Wing Shoe Company. On October 24, 1964 he married Bonnie Hinrichs in Zumbrota and the couple lived in Red Wing. He then went to work at Hughes Shoes and in 1978 he and Jim Boxrud purchased the business and operated it until retiring in 2008. Rod was a past member of the Red Wing Jaycees, and a current member of Red Wing Elks BPOE #845, where he was a past exalted ruler; Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54 and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he was the past superintendent of the Sunday School program. Rod enjoyed collecting baseball cards, bowling, playing the drums-having played for the Silvertones, traveling, attending his grandchildren's sporting and school events and spending time with his family and friends.

Rod is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Red Wing; daughter, Kim (Dave) Odden of Burnsville; sons Tony (Rachel) of Savage and Chris of Red Wing; grandchildren, Sam, Kiara, Alexa, and Sabrina; brother, Curt (Gayle) Hauschildt of Red Wing and his dog, Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Kristen Schlauderaff officiating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Bodelson Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church.
