Shirley Ann Furlong

Shirley Ann Furlong, age 79, of Red Wing, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, at her home at Potter Ridge. She was born July 29, 1936, in St. Paul, to Frank and Ann (Schreckenberg) Girling. She graduated from White Bear Lake High School. On September 17, 1955 she married John Furlong and they made their home in Welch where they were dairy farmers and raised their family. After retiring, they moved to Red Wing in 1987. John Died November 17, 2009. Shirley loved crafting and decorating her home, spending time in her flower gardens and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by 5 children, Robert (Kathy) of Bay City, David (Deb Sammon) of River Falls, Jacqueline of Hager City, Dennis (Amy) of Welch, and Rodney (Kari) of Hager City; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Judy) Girling of Chippewa Falls, WI and Joyce Nieman of Maple Grove. She was preceded in death by her husband, John and son, Stephen.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 1 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Miesville. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
