Sophia Earney-Bodelson

Sophia Marcella Earney-Bodelson, 96, of Diamond Bluff, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo, Minnesota where she has resided for the past year and a half.. She was born on August 20, 1920, in Red Wing to Marcus and Mabel (Lien) Tollison. She attended schools in Esdaile. She was united in marriage to Charles Earney, Sr. in 1938. He died in 1981. In 1987 she married Francis Bodelson in Hawaii. He died in 1999. For 60 years she lived in Diamond Bluff before moving to Red Wing in 2004. She worked at Jostens for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a lifelong member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Esdaile where she was baptized and confirmed. She was also an active member of the Sons of Norway and attended many Hostfest in Minot, ND.

She is survived by three sons, Charles (Patricia) Earney of Rio, Ill., Gene (Jeannie) Earney of Big Lake, Minn., and Colin (Shirley) Earney of Red Wing; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her two husbands, she is preceded in death by one son, Joel Earney; one grandson, Kelly Earney; three great grandchildren, Emily Earney, Alexis Earney and Kelly Johnson; three sisters, Louise Hanvelt Lorraine Wasson and Helen Cox and one half-brother, Loren Tollison.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with Reverend Michael Knudson officiating. Private family burial will be in the Bay City Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the Eidsvold Lutheran Church.
