Stanley Otto Kohn, age 87 of Wanamingo, formerly of Pine Island passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2016 of complications from a heart attack suffered on January 24th.
Stan was born on October 4, 1928 in Douglas, MN to Otto and Minnie (Fieck) Kohn. He grew up in Douglas and graduated from Rochester High School. Stan worked as an engineer for the Chicago Great Western Railroad until his retirement. He was also a talented carpenter and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
On November 30, 1948 Stan married Arlene Elizabeth Glamm. They spent their entire married life in Pine Island in the house that he built, until moving to Wanamingo two years ago, to be near family.
Stan is survived by his wife Elizabeth; children, Diane Auseth Berg of Wanamingo, Sally (David) Fredrickson of Wanamingo and Stuart (Debbie) Kohn of Dennison; grandchildren, Nick (Lynn) Auseth, Amy (Jason) Raths, Lisa (Bruce) Johnson, Marc (Heather) Fredrickson, Lori (Curt) Quam, Nathan, Garrett, Jacob (Breanna), Laura, Matthew and Sarah Kohn; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and brother-in-law, Howard (Doris) Glamm.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, son-in-law, Ron Berg and mother and father-in-law, Irene and Fritz Glamm.
In accordance with Stan's wishes, a private family service will be held with a graveside service in the spring.
