Steven Patrick Freier, 76, of Red Wing, died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his home. He was born January 11, 1940 in Red Wing to Donald and Dorothy (Martensen) Freier. He grew up and attended school in Red Wing, graduating from Red Wing Central High School in 1958. He attended the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin, River Falls. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked several years for the Red Wing Police Department and then at the Minnesota Correctional Facility until his retirement. In his retirement years he worked with for the Goodhue and Wabasha Counties with their risk youth program. He enjoyed painting, sculpting, going out to eat, going to movies and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by parents, Donald & Dorothy (Martensen) Freier, and brother Donald. Survived by beloved wife, Lynda. Children Debra (Rob) Ford of Redmond OR, John Freier of Red Wing MN, Mary (Bill) Rothstein of Excelsior MN, Nathan (Jeanne) Freier of Carlisle PA, Matt (Andra) Willis of Maple Grove MN, Ana (Jeremy) Blue of Red Wing MN; grandchildren Lily, Kolbe, Jesse Ford, Ethan Freier, Max, Patrick, Alex and Mackenzie Rothstein, Samantha, Katie, Maddy, Eli and Aaron Freier, Natalee and Emily Willis, Aiden Nichols and Jackson Blue; great grandchild Coy Ford.
