Vincent Gerken age 82 of Lake City passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Wabasha.
Vincent was born December 7, 1931 in Lake City to Alfred and Ellie (Hinck) Gerken. He grew up in the Lake City area, was baptized and confirmed at St John's Lutheran Church. Vincent married Verna E. Springer March 30, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Potsdam. They lived and farmed in Lake Township in Wabasha County. They moved to Lake City in 1982 and retired from farming in 1996. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. He enjoyed traveling to Arizona and spending his winters there. He also enjoyed farming and going to tractor pulls He loved taking bus tours with his wife and travelling throughout the United States.
He is survived by his three daughters, Suzanne "Sue" (Kim) Keim of Lake City, Betty Lou Goff of FL, Bev (David) Pearson of Rochester; four sons, Donny (Maria) of Lake City, James of Wabasha, Jerry (Jennifer) of Lake City, Daryll (Theresa) of Lake City; eight grandchildren; a step grandchild; four great grandchild; eight step great grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna; a daughter-in-law, Lisa and his sister, Marcella Fick.
A Funeral service will be held Friday September 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. John Berg officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 12 to 2 at the church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake City. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City is handling the arrangements.
