William T. "Billy" Vogelgesang, age 36 of Wanamingo died after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, December 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota with Pastor Ron Wernimont officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
William Thomas Vogelgesang was born on September 29, 1978 in Zumbrota, MN to Charles and Penny (nee Sunde) Vogelgesang. He grew in the Wanamingo area and graduated from Kenyon-Wanamingo High School in 1997. He worked at various odd jobs until going to work for Maple Island Creamery in 1999. William was currently the warehouse supervisor at the time of his death. On September 9, 2014 he married Ashley Koop in Red Wing. He enjoyed four wheeling, fishing and spending time with his family.
William is survived by his wife, Ashley; sons, Nathan and Ryan; mother, Penny Vogelgesang of Zumbrota; father, Charles Vogelgesang of LeRoy; maternal grandmother, Maxine Sunde of Randolph; brother, Daniel Vogelgesang of LeRoy; sisters, Leanne (Randy) Wolbeck of Little Falls and Susanne (Jim) Wernimont of Spring Valley; nieces and nephews and his beloved boxer "Coco".
William was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Johanna and Peter Vogelgesang and maternal grandfather, Donald Sunde.
