The Minnesota Directors Trust Fund is another option to set aside money through an irrevocable trust. This trust fund is similar to that offered by a bank, but the interest rates can be different than those offered by the bank when terms are set. Though the interest rate can never go below 3.5%, it can increase and fluctuate with the market. The interest gain stays with the fund and cannot be drawn on.
