Fred William Sanborn

Bill Sanborn passed away peacefully, with family at his side, on September 8 in his 93rd year. Bill was the beloved husband of Joanne Sanborn. Much loved father of Tim Sanborn (Cindy), Jay Sanborn (Kris), Jon Sanborn (Kim) Christine Sanborn, and Jennifer Kujath (Jeff). Bill was a cherished grandfather of Taylor Sanborn (Tiffany), Tanner Sanborn, Jacob Sanborn (Sydni), Logan Sanborn, Danielle Sanborn, Brittany Dankers (Brett), Zach Sanborn, Mitchell Sanborn, Jakob Kujath and Jack Kujath. Bill was also great grandfather of Jaycee, Frederick, Jane, Charles, and Bridget. Bill was a Veteran of the US Airforce. He was an active member of the Pine Island, MN community. Along with banking and farming he was involved with church, Lion’s Club, Milton Township board, Toastmasters, 4-H, and the MN Hereford Association. Bill was also an avid reader, classical music lover, hunter, and fly fisherman. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Jay and Bergliot Sanborn as well as his three sisters, Francis Poggendorf, Mary Jane Sanborn, and Barbara Rhodine. Visitation will be at Mahn Funeral Home 209 1st Ave NW, Pine Island, MN on Friday, September 15th from 4-7 pm. Funeral service at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Pine Island will be held at 11:00 am, with an hour visitation before on Saturday, September 16. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations could be made to Pine Island Area Home Services 109 3rd St SW, Pine Island, MN or South Dakota School for the Blind 605 14th Avenue SE, Aberdeen, SD 57401.
