Alice Engrav, 96, of Red Wing, died on Monday, December 30, 2019, at the St. Crispin Living Community - The Villa. She was born in West Prairie, WI on November 14, 1923 to Elmer and Annie (Simonson) Peterson. She attended rural schools in West Prairie. Growing up, Alice lived in a one bedroom log cabin with her siblings. She was baptized and confirmed at the Hauge Church. On June 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to Elmer Rhude and they lived in La Crosse, where she worked for many years at a garment factory. Elmer died in 1963. Alice then married Wallace Engrav on September 24, 1966 and they lived in Red Wing. She worked at the Seminary Home and the Vasa Children's Home as a cook. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Senior's Center. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, crafts, and especially collecting angels. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor.
She is survived by her son, Edward Rhude of Spicer, MN; two grandchildren, Scott Rhude of Willmar and Beth (Todd) Reiman of Minneapolis; one sister, Olene Lothen of Wausau, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; her parents; six brothers, Lloyd, Clarence, Edwin, Palmer, Melvin, and Bernard Peterson; and three sisters, Elnora Dahl, Evelyn Olson, and Bertha Peterson.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020, at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church. Online memorials may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
