Amy Louise Shelstad, 88, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at her home. She was born June 4, 1930, in Cherry Grove Township, Goodhue County, to John and Hilma (Larsen) Shelstad and graduated from 8th grade at the Fairpoint Country School. Amy never married and had lived in Kenyon many years. She was a caregiver in Cannon Falls and later moved to Red Wing, where she worked at the Red Wing Shoe Company, until her retirement due to health reasons. While in Red Wing, Amy lived in a health care group home. In 2002, at the age of 72, she received her GED. She loved to bake and at Christmas time would make her "sweet soup" Sot Suppe. She also took sewing lessons and even finished a quilt.
She is survived by a brother, Stanley of Zumbrota and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Juella of Mpls., Mabel Peterson of Kenyon, Hilda Hildabrandt of Kenyon and Crystal Peterson of Kenyon and two brothers, Lester in infancy and Gerhard of Kenyon.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Heidi Bolt officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
