Ardis Leona Lysaker

June 10, 1925 — October 21, 2019

Ardis Leona Lysaker, 94, of Spring Valley, Wisc. died Monday, October 21, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic Health Care System in Eau Claire. She was born June 10, 1925 to Carl and Gerda (Isackson) Lundmark in Leonard, Minn. She graduated from Bagley High School and went on to attend business school in Minneapolis. She lived in Portland, Oregon for a few years before returning to the Midwest where she worked as the bookkeeper for a seed company in Fargo. She met her husband, Theodore Lysaker, while in Fargo. The couple married on June 30, 1949 in Bemidji. They lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area and had two children, Karin and Glenn. In 1962 the family moved to Red Wing where Ted had purchased a dental lab and Ardis handled the lab's bookkeeping. She was a member of United Lutheran Church, helped with 4H and supported her husband activities with the Masons and the Shriners. She enjoyed bowling and played in a league, the Chanel Chicks. She had an innate musical talent and could play the piano both by note and by ear. If you could whistle the tune she could play it. Her favorite activity was slalom water skiing and despite never having learned to swim she kept up her skiing hobby well into her 70's. Before his passing, she and Ted enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Granite Lake and in retirement they traveled all over the Europe. Despite a reserved outward demeanor, Ardis was a self-assured Swede with a delightful sense of humor and a sassy, slightly rebellious streak.

She will be missed by many, including her children Karin (Jack) Palumbo of Sarona, Wisc. and Glenn (Marcey) Lysaker of Goodhue; grandchildren, Mike (Samantha) Palumbo Minneapolis and Angela Palumbo of Baldwin; step-grandchildren, Lisa Pickard of Oklahoma and Zane Merrill of Rochester; great-grandchildren, Stellina and Raphel; nieces, Barbara (David) Horn and Mary Lundmark both of Bemidji. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore and 5 siblings, Edith Rider, Roy, Bill and Arlene Lundmark and Mildred Kenning.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct 28, 2019 at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Karl Rydholm officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be the following day at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery on Tuesday. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
