Bernice Dahling, 93, of Lake City passed away Friday, March 22, 2018 at Lake City Care Center. She was born in Lake City on July 7, 1924 to Edward and Olive (Revling) Betcher.
Bernice graduated from Lake City High School. She married Dahlbert Dahling on August 11, 1943, at the St. John's Lutheran Church Parsonage in Lake City. They farmed for 13 years in Mount Pleasant Township until moving in 1960 to Florence Township in Goodhue County. In 1987 they retired from farming and moved to Lake City. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the neighborhood birthday club. Bernice also volunteered at the Lake City Care Center and St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time playing cards, fishing, sewing and knitting.
Bernice is survived by her children, Richard (Joyce) Dahling of Lake City, Gerald (Roberta) Dahling of Lake City, Ronald (Suzanne) Dahling, Lake City, and Janice (Arlen) Scherger of Dodge Center; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dahlbert; one grandson, Steven Dahling; three sisters, Dorothy Schwirtz, Lois Meincke and Eleanor Gerken; two brothers, Donald Betcher and Raymond Betcher; and parents.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Reverend Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
