Carle F. Romo, age 64 of Pine Island died on September 18, 2017 in Rochester, MN. The memorial service will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11:00 am Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Pastor Darby Lawrence officiating. The visitation will be on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island from 4:00 - 6:00 pm and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Carle Floyd Romo was born on June 24, 1953 to Floyd and Doris (Brandli) Romo in Zumbrota. He was baptized and confirmed at Saint Paul Lutheran Church. Carle was raised and attended school in Pine Island. He began his career with Pine Island Farmers Elevator in 1972. Carle married his childhood sweetheart, Diane Radtke on June 23, 1973 at Saint Paul Lutheran Church. They made their home in Pine Island and raised two children together. Carle retired in January 2016 after working 44 years with the elevator which eventually became Ag Partners. Carle and Diane enjoyed motorcycle trips to Vegas, Sturgis, Oregon and anywhere in Wisconsin.
Carle was a volunteer fire fighter and first responder with the Pine Island Fire Department for 17 years. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion - Pine Island American Legion for 33 years and a life-long member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church.
Carle enjoyed bowling, being outdoors, ranger rides, motorcycling, listening to 70s rock and roll, watching old shows and movies, spending time with friends and family, especially his three granddaughters.
Carle is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Diane; daughter, Jessica (Ben) Thornton of Pine Island; son, Scott Romo of Eugene, OR; three granddaughters, Nina, Victoria and Adeline Thornton; brothers, Francis (Sue) of Blaine and Dale (Kathy) Romo of Villa Rica, GA; sister, Sue (Tim) Quam of Zumbrota; brothers-in-law, Roger and Larry (Bev) Radtke; sister-in-law, Judy (Bryan) Dugstad; and many nieces and nephews.
Carle was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law; and sister-in-law, Lucille Radtke.
