Carol Jean Merckling

Carol Jean Merckling, 73, of Lake City, died on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health System Lake City Care Center. Carol was born in Fergus Falls on July 6, 1945 to Alvin and Bernice (Bergan) Paasch. She graduated from Red Wing High School in 1963 and then attended the Red Wing Vo-Tech. Carol worked at Mayo Clinic as a medical transcriptionist for many years. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She enjoyed feeding and identifying birds. Carol had a great love for reading and she enjoyed gardening.

Carol is survived by her mother, Bernice Haugrose; one son, Dennis (Tahnee) Stanley of Lake City; one grandson, Travis Stanley; one brother, Bruce (Nancy) Paasch of Red Wing; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Paasch, and brother, Larry Paasch.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church with Reverend Steve Frentz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
