Mrs. Friese, 95, of Rochester, died Monday October 28, 2019 at Edenbrook Rochester where she had resided the past few years.

Catherine Mae Hermann was born September 24, 1924 in Zumbro Township in Wabasha County, the daughter of Alfred and Ethel (Pencille) Hermann. Raised at South Troy, she attended normal training in Red Wing, and then became a schoolteacher with Wanamingo District 95, teaching country school in Minneola Township. It was while teaching that she met Russell Friese, and they were married on June 15, 1945 in Rochester. The couple farmed in the Wanamingo area. Retiring in 1978, they moved to Kasson, and eventually moved to Rochester to a house on 2nd Street SW where they enjoyed providing rental rooms.

Catherine was known as a seamstress, and for her cooking and catering. She was a 4-H Club leader, and was very active in the Republican Party. She enjoyed bible studies and her membership at Calvary Baptist Church. She desired to share with other people the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

She is survived by two sons, Duane (Rosemary) Friese, and Grant (Margaret) Friese, all of Pine Island; a daughter, Patricia (Stuart) Larson of Byron; twelve grandchildren, Nicole (Sean) Aarsvold, Nathan Friese, Carrie Friese, Seth (Angela) Friese, Christopher (Rebecca) Friese, Bradley (Mary Ann) Friese, Timothy (Sara) Friese, Lisa (Tye) Kleeberger, David Friese, Jennifer Hadler, Christine (Stefan) Holets, and Travis (Ashley) Larson; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Deedrick of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, and a brother.

If so desired, memorials may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church in Rochester.
