Chalmer Paul Keefer, 82, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his home. He was born August 3, 1935 in Pennsylvania to Beauford and Jesse (Price) Keefer. He graduated from Hollidaysburg High School and in 1954, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Following his honorable discharge in 1957 he continued to live in Minneapolis where he was stationed. He married Ramona Schmiege on June 25, 1960 and the couple made their home in the Twin Cites before moving to Red Wing in 1975 for his job with Durkee Atwood. He retired from Durkee Atwood after 36 years. He also managed the King Neptune Car Wash in Red Wing. In his younger years, Chalmer enjoyed bowling, tennis, golf, softball and handicapping horses. He was a past member of the Leo C. Peterson, American Legion, post 54.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona; son, David Keefer of Waipahu, Hawaii; daughter, Elizabeth (Randy) Srp of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon and Lilah Srp; brother, Danny Keefer of Virginia and sister, Mary Ellen Miller of Pennsylvania; son Larry Keefer and daughter Linda Keefer of his first marriage.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
A visitation will be 4-6 Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial with military honors will be on Thursday at 10:45 a.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
