Charles Edward Hegseth

Charles Edward Hegseth, 87, of Red Wing, died Friday, February 8, 2019, at Valentines Assisted Living. He was born on December 5, 1931, in Red Wing to Carl and Edna (Strand) Hegseth. He graduated in 1949 from Red Wing High School. For a few years he worked for McCoy-Quinn Automotive in Red Wing. On August 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Carol Irvin at United Lutheran Church. They lived in Red Wing where he worked many years for Nelson Sinclair Station and then for the Hudson Plant in Hastings. He would also help his dad build houses. Following his stroke in 1972 he worked 22 years for IRC retiring in 1984. He was a member of United Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed taking great pride in cars and attending car shows. He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carol of 67 years; two children, Allan (Pamela) Hegseth and Sharon (Richard) Holst all of Red Wing; four grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Hegseth, Lisa (Carl Fredrick) Hegseth, Holly Ward and Patricia Seeley; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Carl.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at United Lutheran Church with Pastor Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
