Charles V. Zupfer

Dr. Charles V. Zupfer, DDS, age 90 of Zumbrota died on Friday, July 19, 2019 at the St. Crispin Care Center in Red Wing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Paul in Zumbrota with Father Randal Kasel officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, with a Rosary at 4:30 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and Monday for one hour prior to the mass at the church.
Charles Vincent Zupfer was born on July 21, 1928 in Milroy, MN to Nicholas and Julia (Bolger) Zupfer. Charles graduated from Milroy High School in 1947 and from Mankato Teachers College in 1951. On April 6, 1951, Charles entered the U.S. Air Force and served until his honorable discharge on May 31, 1956. After his discharge he enrolled in dental school at the University of Minnesota. On July 11, 1959 he married Ellen N. Peeler in St. Louis, MO. Charles graduated from Dental School in 1962. Charles worked in the Twin Cities for seven years before purchasing a dental practice in Zumbrota. Dr. Zupfer practiced dentistry until selling the practice in 2004.
Charles was a member of the Church of St. Paul, American Legion Post #183 in Zumbrota, Stary-Yerka VFW Post #5727 and the Reserve Officers Association. Charles was passionate about politics, gardening, genealogy and family.
Charles is survived by his children, Timothy Zupfer of Alexandria, Nancy Zupfer of St. Paul, Karyn (Mark) Lindquist of Maple Grove and Andy Zupfer of Maple Grove; grandchildren, Adam, Eric and Kevin Lindquist and Zachary and Alexa Zupfer.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen; brothers, Francis, Clarence, James and Thomas Zupfer and sisters, Agnes Schildknecht and Florence Miller.
