Clara M. Arendt age 71 of Mazeppa died on August 15, 2017 at her home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazeppa with Pastor Alan Horn officiating. Burial will be in Mazeppa Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Clara Marie Siewert was born on September 15, 1945 to Emil and Joyce L. (nee Van Houten) Siewert in Elgin Township, Wabasha County, MN. She was baptized in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Potsdam on October 29, 1946 and confirmed at Grace United Church of Christ in Millville on March 22, 1959. Clara grew up in Millville and attended Millville and Elgin-Millville schools, receiving her GED on May 3, 1999.
On October 20, 1962 she married Wayne W. Arendt at Grace United Church of Christ in Millville. They made their home in Mazeppa and Clara was a homemaker. Later in life Clara worked in the kitchen at the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Middle School, retiring due to health issues. She enjoyed feeding the birds outside her home, day trips, playing the lottery and going to Bingo. Clara also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and the great-grandkids.
Clara is survived by her two daughters, Lynn (Rusty) Jackson of Pine Island and Donna (Doug) Arendt-Counter of Bellechester; grandchildren, Angela (Dennis) Burdick, Amber (Jason) Briggs and Adam Jackson; great-grandchildren, Riley, Gavin and Kyra Burdick, Alexis and Chloe Briggs and step great-grandchildren, Bryce and Nevaeh Briggs; siblings, Leslie Siewert of Red Wing, Margaret (Floyd) Loos of Millville; in-laws, Ernie (Vicki) Arendt, Carol (Jim) Glander and Sue Arendt, all of Mazeppa; nieces, nephews, cousins and many many close friends.
Clara Was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; parents, Emil and Joyce; step-father, Cyril Plank; brother, Gary Siewert and infant twin brothers; great-grandchildren, Elliott and Cadence Burdick and in-laws, Rhine and Alice Arendt; brother-in-law, Gary Arendt and nephew, Darren Arendt.
