Clara Sobaski, 70, of Lake City passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Lake City Care Center. She was born on August 31, 1946 to George and MaryEllen (Jamison) Hawes in Knapp, Wisconsin.
She grew up in Ellsworth, Wisconsin and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1965. After graduation, Clara worked at Smead Manufacturing in Hastings. Clara married Darrel Sobaski on August 21, 1976 in Prescott, Wisconsin. They moved to South St. Paul where she worked at various jobs in the Twin Cities. She and Darrel later divorced. In 1983, Clara moved to Lake City. She worked at Fiesta Foods, Conoco, Big Ben and River Oaks Nursing Home. In 1996, she moved to Red Wing and lived there until June when she moved to the Lake City Care Center. She enjoyed singing, crafting and helping at the church teaching Sunday school and supervising many different youth organizations.
Clara is survived by two sons, Frank Sobaski of Las Vegas, NV and John Sobaski of South St. Paul; and one sister, Ellen Hawes of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and her ex-husband Darrel Sobaski of South Saint Paul. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Delna Hawes.
A Funeral Service will be Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Valley View Assembly of God Church in Lake City, MN with Reverend Loy Palma officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, Lake City, Minnesota is in charge of arrangements.
