(Doris) Jean Klein, 86, formerly of Rochester, MN, passed away Saturday August 3, 2019 at Meadow Lakes Senior Living.
She was born December 27, 1932 in Wessington Springs, SD to Henry and Helen (Besse) Schmoll. On June 14, 1951 she married Miles Klein and they later divorced. Jean farmed for many years, became an LPN at age 54, and worked as an LPN in Rochester until her retirement.
Jean was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and the senior center. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, was president of NAMI, and volunteered for various organizations.
Survivors include her six children, Judy Klein of Rochester, MN, Sherry Klein of Winona, MN, Vicki (Greg) Meyer of Rochester, MN, Sandy Burgoon of Winona, MN, JoAnn (Don) Mireau of Winona, MN, and Lori Klein of Plainview, MN; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her brother, Kenny Schmoll, of Hendersonville, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Schmoll, of Newark, OH, and one grandchild, Tanner Boehmke, of Plainview, MN.
The memorial service will be Saturday August 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 512 Third Street SW, Rochester, Minnesota. The Reverend Thomas Parlette will officiate. Friends may call at the First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
