Dolph D. Bezoier

Dolph D. Bezoier, age 95 of Zumbrota died Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his home. A memorial service will be on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM at United Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Wayne Radke officiating. Military honors will be provided by Stary-Yerka VFW Post #5727. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
Dolph De Maris Bezoier was born on January 13, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Henry and Ida (Wilcox) Bezoier. He grew up in Minneapolis, attended public schools and graduated from West High School in 1941. On August 31, 1942 he entered the U.S. Army Air Force. He served in the European Theatre of Operations during WW II in the Signal Corps attached to the 9th Air Force. Dolph participated in the third wave of D-Day at Normandy. He was honorably discharged on September 29, 1945. On October 6, 1945 he married Ursula Kubalske in Minneapolis. Dolph enrolled at St. Olaf College and graduated after two years with a degree in Music Education. Dolph taught music and was choral director in Fairmont and later St. James. While teaching, Dolph along with a partner started a music business in St. James and later sold his share to his partner and returned to teaching. He taught music and was choral director for one year in Detroit Lakes before spending most of the remainder of his teaching career in Edina, where he earned his Master's Degree in Music from the University of Minnesota. Dolph retired from teaching in the early 1970's, and moved to an A frame house he built in rural Zumbrota. Dolph became the artistic director for the Rochester Civic Theater and later an artistic critic for the Rochester Post-Bulletin. Dolph then became involved in raising Babcock swine and was very successful in this endeavor. Dolph then became involved with building a computer based music lab at RCTC and was involved with local community theaters, including Kenyon and Zumbrota.
Dolph was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church, Stary-Yerka VFW Post #5727 and Downtown Rotary.
Dolph is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Ursula; son, Dolph Bezoier III of Zumbrota; daughters, Karen (Jerry) DeBuhr of Waukon, IA and Jeanyne (John) Slettom of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Brianna), Jennifer (David), Linnette, Malena (Graham) and Linnea (Aaron) and great-grandchildren, Charley, James, Carson, Owen and Cole.
Dolph was preceded in death by his sisters, Josephine Horlike and Mary Cerney.
In accordance with Dolph's wishes, his body was bequested to the Mayo Clinic Anatomy Department.
