Donald LaVerne Hoium

July 6, 1951 — August 23, 2017

A memorial mass for Donald Hoium, Jr. will be held Monday August 28th at 11:00 AM at Pax Christi Catholic Church in Rochester, Minnesota. Celebrating the mass will be the Reverend Father Jonathan Fasnacht. Burial of the urn will follow at St. Aiden's Cemetery, rural Ellendale, Minnesota. Mr. Hoium, 66, of Pinson, Alabama, died Wednesday August 23, 2017 in Rochester, where he had been residing recently to receive health care.



Donald LaVerne Hoium, Jr. was born July 6, 1951 at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska. He was a retired US Air Force veteran. After military retirement he worked for a trucking company. Don Jr loved his family. He also enjoyed bowling, golf, and collecting movies. He was a great cook and enjoyed doing it. He smiled all the time, and always brought happiness with him. He was a big football fan with a big favoritism to the University of Alabama. He was a strong but gentle man and during his fight with cancer he earned the title as Iron Man with his determination to stay healthy, happy and live a long life. ROLL TIDE DON! We will miss you so much.



Don is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph R. and Sherry Hoium of Sylacauga, Alabama; parents, Donald Sr. and Merilyn Hoium of Rochester, Minnesota; grandchildren, Samantha Hoium of Queen Creek, Arizona, and Alita Wallace and her husband Vince of Sylacauga, Alabama; and a great-granddaughter, Bayleigh M. Wallace. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Larry Hoium and wife Beverly of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kathy Riehl and husband John of Lake Charlotte, Florida, David Hoium and wife Sharlet of Chicago Illinois, James Hoium and wife Tammy of Waynesville, Ohio, Robert Hoium from Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, Amy Bingham and husband JD of Brea, Alabama, and Debra Hoium of Mankato, Minnesota, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.



He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Hoium; and a daughter, Stephanie Hoium.
