Eileen Ruth Delk

Eileen Ruth Delk, 79, of Red Wing, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Mayo Health Systems in Red Wing. She was born on May 5, 1938 in Stephenson, Michigan, to Carl and Mildred (Johnson) Johnson. She graduated in 1960 from Gustavus Adolphus College with a degree in music education. In 1963, she married Reverend Thomas Delk. Together Eileen and Thomas lived in various areas including, Webster, South Dakota, Minneapolis, Rush City and Vasa, Minnesota, Flannigan, Illinois and Decorah, Iowa while he served as a pastor and chaplain. She taught piano lessons as well as substitute taught in Cannon Falls and Red Wing when they lived in Vasa area. She was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Red Wing and in the past was active in the WELCA circles and served on several ELCA boards. Her passion was music, giving piano lessons to many students over the years and playing piano and organ for church services when needed. She enjoyed knitting, baking and attending sporting events and horse shows for her grandchildren.

Eileen is survived by two children, Michael (Kristen) Delk and Elizabeth (Tony) Delk-Banitt all of Welch; eight grandchildren, Cody, Leah and Lexie Banitt and Matthew, Hannah, John, Joshua and Noah Delk; one brother, Lowell (Kathy) Johnson of Becker, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Mavis Barth.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Arthur Sharot officiating. Burial will be at the Vasa Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
