Estelle Aileen Myhrer, 64, of Red Wing, died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Mayo Clinic St. Mary's Campus in Rochester. She was born August 23, 1954 in Two Harbors, Minn. to Albert and Esther (Ortloff) Myhrer. After a few moves, she and her family made their home in Red Wing and she graduated from Red Wing Central High School with the class of 1972. She went on to work for the Red Wing Shoe Company, eventually retiring after more than 30 years.
Estelle loved her roll as the "fun aunt" and was a playmate for both her nieces and nephews. Always willing to help, she provided some much-needed time off for her sisters while they were raising their children. Estelle was the social glue of the family. She organized the family get-togethers and rounded everyone up for weekly lunches and dinner dates. She also was the family documentarian, making sure there were photos and videos of all of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and even her great-great nieces and nephews. She loved westerns, especially Gun Smoke and also enjoyed watching wrestling. She and Karen went on many out-of-town adventures to find new restaurants. She also enjoyed visiting the casino.
She is survived by her siblings; Karen Etheridge of Red Wing, Rosie Myhrer of Red Wing, Keith Myhrer of Las Vegas and Nancy (Dennis) Hanson of Ellsworth; nieces, Melody, Angela and Deanna; nephew, Aaron; 11 great-nieces and nephews and 6 great-great-nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Lolly Jennings; brother, Terry Myhrer; nephew, Michael Jennings and her parents.
A celebration of her life will be 4-6 p.m. June 7, 2019 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
