Frederick and Laura Lee, helped raise her. Later, her father married Almira Fordahl and the family lived in Haynes, ND. In the early 1930's they moved to the Wanamingo area. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1937. On February 23, 1941, she married Albert Ganz Jr. They started their married life in Ohio, later returning to Rochester. After Al's death in 1969, she attended vocational school and became a bookkeeper for a roofing company. She also worked at the Van Horn Public Library in Pine Island, retiring in 2007. She loved horses and her South Dakota prairie, where the "sky was blue-er and the moon was bigger and the stars were brighter".

She loved us unconditionally, and was dearly loved in return. Preceding her in death were her husband, Albert Ganz, brothers, Charles Frederick and Arley Hubert Lee and son-in-law, Bruce Nicholas.
