Greg E. Josephson

Greg E. Josephson, 70, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 4, 2019 at his home. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born to parents John and Shirley (Larsen) Josephson on November 20, 1948, in Red Wing. He grew up on a farm in Wisconsin in the Jackson Hill area and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1966. He married the love of his life, Kathy Josephson, on June 23, 1968 at United Lutheran Church. They have three children Kari (David) Everson of River Falls, WI, John-Paul Josephson of Missoula, MT, and Krista Sorenson of East Bethel, MN. They have five grandchildren, Andrew Everson, Kristopher Everson, Katilynn Sorensen, Kristin Sorensen and Patrick Sorensen. He also has one sister, Arlyn (Don) Nadeau of Montana. He was preceded in death by his parents. Greg worked for the Goodhue County Sheriff's Department starting as a patrolman advancing up the ranks until he reached detective and retired in 2001 as a Lieutenant. After retiring from the Sheriff's Department, he worked for the Red Wing Shoe Company retiring in 2017. He was a member of United Lutheran Church, Police and Peace Officers Association, Red Wing Rod and Gun Club, International Brotherhood of Electronic Workers and the Improved Order of Red Men. Greg was an avid gun enthusiast, he liked golfing, politics and was happiest spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will be at Trenton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
