Howard Thelmer Stenerson

Howard Thelmer Stenerson, 84, of Red Wing, died Saturday, September 28, 2019 at his home. He was born September 9, 1935 in Vernon County, Wisconsin to Thelmer and Ruth (Dolan) Stenerson. He grew up in Vernon County and attended school there until his family moved to Red Wing when he was 17. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School and moved to Milwaukee where he met his wife, Joyce Fays. The couple married in Iron Mountain, Michigan on August 16, 1958. They then moved to Minneapolis where Howard attended North Central Bible College. In 1962, they returned to Red Wing where he went to work for the Red Wing Shoe Company until his retirement in 1999. He also worked with the Red Wing Health Care Center as their volunteer chaplain from 1978 until the time of his passing. Howard enjoyed working on his hobby farm and was very involved with the New River Assembly of God church where he served in various roles.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Howard Stenerson, Jr. of Red Wing; two grandchildren, Howard "Sam" (Rebecca) of Red Wing and Sally Stenerson of Red Wing; one brother, Tilman (Lois) Stenerson of Red Wing, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at New River Assembly of God in Red Wing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial at Burnside Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
