A memorial service for James Boehlke will be held Friday November 8th at 10:30 AM at Christ Community Church in Rochester. The service will be co-officiated by The Rev. Greg Loy and The Rev. Dr. Greg Bourgond. Visitation will be Thursday November 7th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel, in Zumbrota. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Mr. Boehlke, 59, of Zumbrota, died Sunday November 3, 2019 in Zumbrota.

James "Jim" Frederick Boehlke was born November 25, 1959 in Plainview, the son of John and Eleanor Boehlke. Raised in Plainview, he moved with his family to Rochester and was a graduate of Mayo High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and earned a degree in communications. He married Cindy Taylor and was later divorced. On January 7, 2012 he married Kim Simonson in Rochester. Jim worked in marketing. He was with Cannon Equipment in Cannon Falls for fifteen years, then with Hearth and Home in Lake City. He then sold fine art with Wild Wings in Lake City for non-profit funding. Since 2014, he has been employed by the Lyle Wendroth State Farm Insurance Agency in Zumbrota.

He was a member of Christ Community Church. He loved being outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice-fishing, and bicycling. He also enjoyed reading, board games, gardening, and a penchant for World War II movies.

He is survived by his wife Kim Simonson of Zumbrota; a son Joseph Boehlke of Lake City; two step-daughters Emily (Jacob) Nelson of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and Mariah Simonson of Upsala, Minnesota; a step-son Lucas Simonson of Zumbrota; two brothers Robert (Kay) Boehlke of Palo Alto, California, and Ted (Elaine) Boehlke of Naples, Florida; and a sister Elizabeth Enger of Lake City. Also surviving are his pets The Marvelous Magnificent Otis T. Baggins and the lesser dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Peter Boehlke; and a niece Susan Fetzner.
