Janice Karen Tollison

Janice Karen Tollison, 82, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 in her home. She was with her loved ones and dear husband Sheridan Tollison. Janice was born on February 8, 1937 and was the only daughter to Harold and Wilhelmina VonHelmst of Red Wing, who preceded her in death. She graduated Valedictorian from Red Wing Central High School in 1955 and attended the University of Minnesota. On March 17, 1956 she married her high school sweetheart Sheridan. Those who will feel her lost most deeply are her husband of 62 years Sheridan; children, Barbara (Mike) Giorgi, Linda (Dave) Buysse, John (Kim) Tollison and Paul (Joanne) Tollison. She adored her eleven grandchildren, Sarah, Julia, Laura, Nicholas, Mark, Mathew, James, Elise, Josh, Ally and Sam. She loved her four great-grandchildren, Sophie, Riley, Walter and Henry. Janice was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and worked many funeral luncheons. She served Meals on Wheels for 17 years. People that knew Janice most, appreciated her brilliant mind, her kindness, and acceptance, her honesty and integrity. Her happy place was her lake home on Central Point in Lake City. The whole family loved sharing joyful moments and fun activities at the lake. Everyone was made to feel welcome. Quilting was her passion and she was a superb quilt designer and excellent seamstress. Janice believed that those who sleep under a quilt, sleep under a blanket of love. Being an avid card player, she never turned down a chance to beat you at a game of cards. She will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. Our wish is to have her loved paid forward through acts of kindness.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Pastor Dana Jackson officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
