John Maynard Rehder

John Maynard Rehder, age 79, of Vasa, died Tuesday November 26, 2019 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He was born March 3, 1940, in Red Wing to Maynard and Florence (Strusz) Rehder. He grew up on the family farm in Vasa Township and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1958. On July 23, 1966 he married Wanda Redfield and they later divorced. For many years he farmed and worked on road construction. He also served six years in the National Guard. He had riding and draft horses and his family recalls all the fun times they would have taking many trail rides, especially when they were overnight. He would attend garage, auction and estate sales collecting many different items over the years. Most of all he enjoyed visiting with family and friends, sharing a joke or two and maybe a wise crack.

He is survived by his three children, Melissa Rehder of Ellsworth, Patrick (Michele) Rehder of Red Wing and Vanessa (Gary) Jeske of Red Wing; seven grandchildren, David, Ryan, Tristan, Gabriel and Chance Rehder and Tessa and Brock Jeske; two great grandchildren, Oakley and Lily; one sister, Carole Rehder of Lake City and one brother, Mike (Linda) Rehder of Red Wing along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2019, at Vasa Lutheran Church with Reverend Maureen Hagen officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.
