Kathryn Maxine Dahl, 98, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Deer Crest. She was born March 26, 1919, in Hills, Minnesota, to Oscar and Dora (Anderson) Herreid and graduated from high school there in 1937. She went on to nurses training and became a Registered Nurse, working throughout her life at various hospitals in St. Paul and Minneapolis; Portland, Oregon and Red Wing. On June 26, 1942, she was united in marriage to Burnett Dahl in Red Wing. Kay was always very active as her daughters were growing up, serving on various boards and associations, in both leadership and volunteer roles. After her retirement from St. John's Hospital, she and Burnett enjoyed many years of travel together. She also enjoyed golfing, cooking, boating and playing bridge. Kathryn will be remembered for her strong love and loyalty to her family-she was always there for them and they meant the world to her.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Karen Schamber of Maple Grove, Judy Hinrichs of Red Wing and LuAnn (Peter) Lang of Zumbrota; grandchildren, Knute (Anne) Schamber, Jonathan Schamber, Jenny (Al) Opse, George (Shannon) Martenson and Samantha (Gary) Pace; 9 great-grandchildren and a sister, Jewel Rinaldi of Olympia, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-mother; her husband, Burnett in 2005; 2 brothers; a sister; and 2 sons-in-law, John Schamber & David Hinrichs.
