Kazimierz Roslik

November 1, 1949 — February 12, 2019

Kaz was born on November 1, 1949 in Brueckenau, Germany and was the second child born to Jan & Maria (Sauk) Roslik. The family immigrated to the United States when he was one. He lived and grew up in Northeast Minneapolis and attended Edison High School and the University of Minnesota. He was a loving and dedicated father of four children: Joshua, Alek, Angelina, and Zakary. And a proud Dziadek to four grandchildren: Sam, Max, Zona, & Niko.
Kaz enjoyed playing football and wrestling, and was a youth football coach. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, archery, cooking, educating others, and lifelong learning. He loved astronomy, military and world history, and ketchup. He has an extensive collection of vinyl albums and loved all types of music. He was an excellent dancer, played musical instruments, and was even known to sing and make up fairytales for his grandkids. Kaz enjoyed a convertible ride and a good debate. Kaz was a proud Golden Valley Peace Officer for almost 28 years. Kaz loved living in the Bluffs of the Mississippi River and Lake Pepin.
Kaz met his wife, Karen, in 1997 and they were married in the backyard of their Lake City home in 2002. They enjoyed traveling together and spending lots of "windshield time" across the United States and Canada. Kaz was an animal lover and had many pets over the years, and most recently his border collie, Homey. Animals and children were drawn to him as a fiercely loyal and trustworthy.
Kaz passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Tuesday, February 12th at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester at 69 years of age after a 6½ month battle with small cell lung cancer. Kaz fought the good fight but in the end the disease overtook him.
Kaz is loved by many and will be sorely missed. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen England, of Lake City; his children, Josh (Margaret), Alek (Kristina), Angelina, and Zak (Chelsea); brother Walter (Mary Lou); grandchildren Sam, Max, Zona, and Nikolai; aunts; cousins of all ages; a host of in-laws; great neighbors; and his law enforcement brothers and sisters.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Kaz on Saturday, February 23rd at Jax Café, 1928 University Avenue NE, Minneapolis. People are encouraged to visit between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with A Time For Remembrance to begin at 1-ish.
