Lorene Caroline Havig, 89, of Red Wing, formerly of Marshalltown, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the St. Crispin Living Community. She was born April 12, 1930 in Dows, Iowa to Frederick and Mattie Johanna (Oelmann) Kreimeyer. She attended elementary school in Dows and high school in Hansel where she graduated in 1948. Following graduation, she moved to Mason City where she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company until 1958. On September 14, 1958 she married Keith Havig and the couple made their home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Together they raise two sons. She was an active member in the church of Christ and worked as a volunteer for many organizations in the area. Following the death of her husband in 2009 she moved to Red Wing to be closer to her son. She and Keith enjoyed traveling and would drive across the country to visit their son in California making many stops along the way to sightsee. She had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as maintaining her lawn. She was also a talented seamstress and quilter.
She is survived by her sons, Steve Havig of Red Wing and Kevin (Chautona) of Ridgecrest, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Erickson; brother, Larry (Linda) Kreimeyer; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Keith; 3 brothers; daughter-in-law, Robin and her parents.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing with Reverend Tim Bennyhoff officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
