Lucille S. McWaters age 92, of Zumbrota, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Rochester, St. Mary's Campus. A memorial service will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at United Redeemer Lutheran Church at 11:00 am with Reverend Dr. Margaret Pleis-Sippola officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Zumbrota cemetery. Arrangements were made with Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel.
Lucille Sarah Raasch was born on May 15, 1926 to Edward and Celia (Lother) Raasch in Goodhue County. She grew up in rural Zumbrota. Lucille attended country school and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1943. On June 6, 1947 she married James McWaters at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. Together they farmed in Minneola Township until retiring in 1979 and moving to Zumbrota. Lucille worked at the Zumbrota Bank for many years. She was a member of United Redeemer Lutheran Church, WELCA, and Stary-Yerka VFW Post #5727 Auxiliary.
Lucille enjoyed walking, baking, gardening, going to her grandkids sporting events and spending time with family and friends.
Lucille is survived by her son, George McWaters of Wanamingo; daughters, Cindy (Tom) Thompson and Becky (Marvin) Gill both of Zumbrota; nine grandchildren, Chad (Alisha) McWaters, Matt (Karoline) McWaters, Sara (Cory) Benda, Calie (Josh) Schaefer, Tonya (husband, Brad Flynn) Loken, Shawn (fiancée Jessica) Thompson, Travis (Megan) Gill, Jason (Hillary) Gill and Christina (Jason) Ryan; 28 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Delaine Raasch, and Verna McWaters.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, James "Bud" McWaters; daughter-in-law, Debra McWaters; brothers, Edward and Melvin Raasch; sisters, Marcella Santelman, Evelyn Betcher, and Marion Pimental.
