Mae M. Lundberg

December 26, 1917 — October 5, 2019

Margaret "Mae" M. Lundberg, 101, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at St. Crispin Assisted Living.

With her Irish eyes smiling, Mae was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Jerry Lundberg, her sister Evelyn Diesing, her brother James Herbison and her parents, William and Irene.

Mae is survived by three daughters, Marcy Lundberg-Underwood, Debbie Holden Nelson and Jane Quinn; six grandchildren, John (Jessica) Underwood, Colin Underwood, Lisa (Rob) Quinn- Lee, Amy (Jeff) Quinn Oian, Philip (Phyllis) Holden and Mary (Jason) Holden; eight great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Eloise Mae Underwood, Sophia and Kai Lee, Isabelle and Chloe Oian, Aurora Holden and Natalie Albertz.

Mae loved being the mother of her three daughters. She taught them how to love, have compassion and to be open-minded. She will be remembered especially for her energy, resilience and positive attitude. Her big heart and kind nature where shown to all who knew her.

Mae was born on December 26, 1917, at the Herbison family farm near Maiden Rock, Wisconsin to parents William and Irene (Donnelly) Herbison. She attended grade school and high school in Plum City. In 1942 she married Jerry Lundberg who was in the Army during World War II. They lived in Gainesville, Texas and Alexandria, Louisiana. When Jerry was sent overseas, Mae moved to Red Wing. On Jerry's return they stayed in Red Wing where they raised their three children. Jerry died on November 8, 1999.

Mae worked at the Farmer's Store and then the Corner Red Owl where she enjoyed helping people who shopped there. Once retired, she volunteered for many years at the Red Wing Correctional Facility as a foster grandparent where she baked cookies and talked with the residents. She also volunteered at the Church of St. Joseph and Hi-Park Care Center.

Exercise and healthy food were always important to Mae. She walked outside or on her treadmill two miles each morning and afternoon. She was an avid reader usually reading two books at a time. She was known for her love of all animals especially dogs and she always remembered her pet lamb. Cooking and baking heathy food was very important for her. Her children and grandchildren loved her strawberry jelly, her famous applesauce and her chocolate chip cookies. Mae will always be in our hearts.

Memorials are preferred to Mayo Red Wing Hospice. A private service will be held. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. For more information or to leave an online condolence visit www.mahnfamilyfuenralhome.com.
