Marian M. TerBorch, 91, of Red Wing, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2017, of congestive heart failure at Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Wing.
She was born on February 2, 1926, in Hartland Township, Pierce County, Wisconsin to George and Edna (Warn) Bennett. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1943 and went to work as an operator for Hager City Telephone Company. On November 24, 1945, Marian was married to W. Milton Johnson at Svea Lutheran Church, where they were members. Together they raised three daughters and were active in the community and First Lutheran Church. Marian worked for Sears, provided care for friends and family members, and volunteered. She enjoyed sewing clothing for herself and her daughters, and decorating their home on a budget. In 1968-69 Marian and Milt hosted AFS student Mariko Kamada of Japan, laying the foundation for a lifelong bond between their families. Marian and Milt were founding members of the Red Wing Swedish Singers, which deepened their appreciation of their shared Swedish heritage. Marian took a job with M'Dona's Clothing, spurring her interest in fashion, something she thoroughly enjoyed after so many years of sewing her own.
Milton died of cancer in 1983. Marian was introduced by friends to LeRoy TerBorch and they married in 1986 at First Lutheran Church. Together they travelled many places near and far, frequently spending time with her children and grandchildren. LeRoy passed away in 2001.
Marian is survived by her three daughters: Judith (William) Fletcher of West Des Moines, IA; Laurel (Gary) Christensen of Minnetrista, MN; and Marilee (Steven) Hedberg of La Crescent, MN. She is also survived by four granddaughters: Kristin (Charles Gladfelter) Fletcher of Wilmette, IL; Kari Fletcher of St. Paul, MN; Kelly (Jeffrey) Robertson of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Catherine Christensen and her partner Clayton Smith of Apple Valley, MN; and four great-grandchildren Lily and Greta Gladfelter, and Maxwell and Katharine Robertson.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Milton and LeRoy; parents; brothers, Clifford and Wilfred Bennett; and sisters, Loraine Deden and Eileen Gelhar.
