Marjorie May Augustin

November 9, 1928 — March 25, 2019

Marjorie May (Alms) Augustin, entered into the presence of her Savior, Jesus, on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester, MN at the age of 90. She was born on November 9, 1928 to Oscar and Lydia (Dicke) Alms in Spring Valley, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Cady Township. Her family farmed there until after her father died and they moved to a farm in Featherstone Township, MN. She attended elementary school in Spring Valley and High School in Red Wing, MN. During high school years she did live-in child care and worked as a nursing assistant. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College and finished her nurses training at Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing in St. Paul in 1950. The class remained close and attended reunions up to their 65th class reunion. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. John's Hospital, Red Wing, until her marriage to Orville Augustin on June 2, 1951. Together they farmed until 1994 when they moved to Red Wing. Following Orville's death in 2011 she moved to the Plaza in Red Wing.
Marjorie was a dedicated mother and wife sharing all the farm and family responsibilities with Orville on the Augustin Century Farm in Hay Creek. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek. She was always willing to help serve at various functions. Cooking was an important part of her life. She and Orville were active members of Immanuel's Fellowship Club. They enjoyed playing cards and singing in the choir. They faithfully supported Immanuel Lutheran School and attended all their children and grandchildren's activities. She volunteered many years at the Seminary Home in Red Wing. She was a kind and thoughtful person.
She is survived by four children, Sharon (Rev. David) Frederickson, Sue Domagala, Robert (Mary) Augustin, Michael (Dr. Kathy MacLaughlin) Augustin; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Hugo) Jim, Rachel Collins, Dr. Kathryn Augustin, Luke (Stephanie) Augustin, Benjamin Domagala, Joshua Augustin, Emily Augustin; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Collins, Allison Collins, Cora Collins, Eden Jim, Alana Augustin; four sisters-in-law, Hilda Wendel, Phyllis (Kaylan) Abel, Eileen Alms and Ruth (Larry) Hanusch.
Preceded in death by husband Orville: infant son, Larry; son-in-law, Duane Domagala; three brothers, Erhard, Melvin and Richard.

Funeral Service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek with Reverend Lowell Sorenson officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the church and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
