Marlan Milton Hanson

Marlan Milton Hanson, 71, of Bay City, died Friday, September 21, 2018, at his home from injuries of a tractor accident. He was born on November 16, 1946, in Red Wing to Milton and Mabel (Nelson) Hanson. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1964 and later from Winona Technical College. He served in the US Army from 1966-1968. On September 25, 1971, he married Kathleen Phillips in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. They lived in rural Bay City and for 42 years he worked for Meyer Industries. He was a member of Eidsvold Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to the trailer at the lake in Birchwood, Wisconsin, where he made many great friends over the years. He always felt blessed for having great friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed his yearly reunions every fall with his band of brothers from the 4/80th Artillery A Battery. This coming week, he and Kathy were planning on attending the 50th year reunion in Colorado.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; one daughter, Kendra Hanson of Ellsworth and one son, Ryan Hanson of Bay City; two sisters, Dorothy (Melvin) Johnson of Ellsworth and Gloria (Eldon) Myer of Hammond, Wis., one sister-in-law, Norma Hanson of Bay City; two brothers-in-law, Dennis Potts of Bay City and Dan (Darlene) Phillips of Colfax, Wis., along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and his best pal and dog, Allie. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, LaVern Hanson; four sisters, Vera and Loretta Hanson, Mary Potts and Arlene Kline and one nephew, Gary Kline.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Esdaile with Reverend Michael Knudsen officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the Eidsvold Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 27, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the Eidsvold Lutheran Cemetery or donor's choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
