Maxine Louise Voy

October 21, 1935 — March 2, 2019

Maxine Louise Daub Voy, 83, of Rochester passed away peacefully early Saturday, March 2 of

complications of rheumatoid arthritis at her Madonna Towers home with family holding her hand.

The daughter of William Joseph and Inez Irene Hathaway Daub, Maxine was born in Osceola, Iowa on

October 21, 1935. The family moved to Greene, Iowa in 1948, and Maxine graduated from Greene

High School in 1954.

Maxine married Kermit David Voy on June 25, 1954. They lived in Osage, IA for 12 years after Kermit

completed his agronomy degree at Iowa State University, raising seven children. Maxine was a member

of Osage Alliance Church and taught children's Sunday school classes there. Kermit worked as a soil

scientist for the USDA in the north central counties of Iowa for over 30 years while Maxine was a

homemaker. During this time, the couple purchased farmland in Howard and Mitchell Counties.

The family moved to Hampton, Iowa as Kermit continued working for the USDA. Maxine was a member

of Faith Baptist Church in Hampton, and taught children's Sunday school classes and women's Bible

studies there. She loved mentoring other young mothers with children. She worked part-time as a Unit

Secretary at Hampton General Hospital and later as secretary to Faith Baptist Church. Maxine and

Kermit lived in Hampton for 34 years before moving to Rochester, Minnesota in 2004, where they joined

Oasis Church.

Maxine was a faithful and loving wife and a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, and great-

grandmother. She lovingly cared for their son Dan during his 5-year illness with a brain tumor before he

died at age 18. She loved to read, sew clothes for the family, refinish and reupholster furniture, garden,

and spend time with family. She volunteered with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Hampton General

Hospital Auxiliary and was a 4-H leader. At Madonna Towers, she enjoyed playing games and cards,

singing in the choir, participating in book club, listening to music, and coloring pictures with Bible

verses, which she gave to others.

Maxine and Kermit were married for nearly 60 years before he died in 2014.
